Schiff Reagent
Solution
| Ingredient | Amount |
| Pararosanilin | 0.2 g |
| Distilled water | 400 mL |
| Hydrochloric acid, 1N | 4 mL |
| Sodium thiosulphate | 96 g |
Preparation
Dissolve the dye in boiling distilled water.
Add the sodium thiosulphate and mix well.
Filter.
Add the hydrochloric acid.
Stir until the solution is crystal clear and slightly pink (1-2 hours), with a pink to white precipitate.
Refrigerate overnight.
Store in a tightly stoppered bottle in the dark.
Filter before use.
