| Distilled water | 500 | mL |
| Dissolve the dye and alum into the water. |
| Boil for 5 minutes. Cool and filter. |

| Distilled water | 1 | L |
Tissue sample
5µ paraffin sections of neutral buffered formalin fixed tissue are suitable.
Other fixatives are likely to be satisfactory.
